Hey, why is my iPhone displaying an Important Message such as “Important Battery Message” or "Unknown Part" from Apple under the "Parts and Service History" section in Settings?
Don’t worry! We’re happy to share more information about these messages.
Why do these messages appear?
These messages inform you that repair work has been done on your device, and rest assured that the device works as intended and will not affect your iPhone's performance.
These messages do not harm your device and are visible on the lock screen for 4 days and then for 15 more days in Settings. This is only to tell you that any Apple devices that have gone through repairs may have such a message indicated on the phone.
The message you may see on your device:
** Different iOS might show different messages
If you are using iOS 15.2 and onwards, you can go to Settings > General > About > PARTS AND SERVICE HISTORY to see which components, if any, have been replaced.
"Unknown Part" - Components/ parts that were installed are not genuine Apple parts.
2. “Genuine Apple Part” - Genuine Apple parts/ components were used/ replaced.
Do not be alarmed when you see these messages as all of the components are functionally identical to the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) equivalents and won't perform any differently, even if replacements are not performed by Apple. Also, the device will be able to function as usual.
