If your device is not charging, don't worry! Our technical experts have compiled a list of solutions to fix the problem. Here are five useful tips to troubleshoot your device:
1. Check your charger and troubleshoot your device by following these steps:
- Plug your device into a power source.
- Connect your device to your USB cable.
- Plug it into a wall power socket, a power adapter connected to the wall, or a USB 2.0/3.0 port on a computer or laptop.
- If your phone charges very slowly or doesn’t charge at all, check that your USB adapter and charging cable aren’t damaged, and make sure that everything is firmly plugged in and connected to a working outlet. Also, check that there isn’t any debris blocking the charging port at the bottom of your smartphone. If the charging port still doesn't work, it may need to be replaced.
2. Clean your device's charging/headphones port with a toothpick:
Carefully insert it into the port and gently move it along the interior. Wipe it off using a paper towel or cloth and repeat until the toothpick comes out clean.
3. Tips to cool your device:
- Avoid using your device in temperatures outside of 0º-35ºC (or 32º-95ºF).
- Do not leave your device in a hot car or direct sunlight for too long.
- Avoid using features like GPS, navigation, augmented reality apps, or games in hot conditions or direct sunlight for long periods.
- If your device heats up when certain features and apps are running, don't worry. It's normal and it will return to its normal temperature after use.
4. Update your software:
iOS devices:
- Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
Android devices:
- Go to Settings > System > System update.
5. Restore your device to factory settings with a computer:
If you have a Mac with macOS Catalina or later, open the Finder app. If your Mac has macOS Mojave or earlier, or your device is a Windows PC, connect your device to your computer and open iTunes. Then, select your device and click on "Restore."
